Private Louvre tours

Our Promise

At Paris and Beyond Tours, the Louvre is one of the most requested stops among all our private tours in Paris :  so we built two dedicated private tours just for it, each for a different kind of visit.
One is a focused highlights tour for adults and older teens.
The other is a treasure hunt designed specifically for families with children aged 5–12.
Both include your licensed guide and timed entrance tickets in the price, so there’s nothing to book separately and no queuing to worry about.

Which Louvre tour is right for you ?

Traveling without young children, or with teens who want the real highlights?
Choose the Private Louvre Tour. It covers the essential masterpieces (and more) at an adult pace, in 2.5 hours.

Traveling with kids aged 5–12?
Choose the Scavenger Hunt. It isn’t a simplified version of the highlights tour : it’s a different format built around activities, not a lecture. If your group includes both young children and adults who want deeper commentary, tell us when booking; our guides can lean the storytelling toward the grown-ups while kids work through the hunt.

Ten minutes on the phone will settle it

Joséphine and Ferit answer themselves. Tell us who’s coming, which days you have, and how much cathedral your family can take : we’ll tell you which one to book, and say so honestly if the answer is none of them.

How to count the Number of Participants  for a Tour ?

The number of participant for tours depends whether the tour involves a transfer of not.

If there is a Transfer every single participant at any age ( even couple of months old ) count as for a major cost of the tour is in the transportation, and even a baby takes a seat it is important for us, if the limit of participants exceeds the capacity of the vehicle, we will have to add an other vehicle or book a larger one, thus a more important cost.

If there is no transfer in the tour then any children under 6 years old is free of charge, the parents and guides are both aware that the focus is always going to be on the kids that are 6 and older. That said, our guides try to engage any child on tour regardless of the age between 4 and 6 years old.

What our guests usually ask before visiting the Louvre ?

Is the Louvre worth it if it's going to be packed with people?

The Louvre draws crowds no matter when you go : that’s not something any guide can change.
What we control is how you move through it.
Your guide uses timed-entry tickets and priority guide access to avoid the worst of the queue, and times your arrival at key rooms : including the Mona Lisa, to sidestep the heaviest crush of people where possible.

It won’t be an empty museum, but it will be a far calmer visit than doing it alone.

The Louvre is enormous. Will we get lost, or only see a fraction of it?

You will only see a fraction of it : the Louvre holds roughly 35,000 works across 73,000 square meters, and no visit of a few hours can cover it all.
That’s by design.
Rather than wandering, your guide follows a curated route built around a fixed list of highlights, so the visit feels complete.

Do we need to buy tickets separately, or figure out timed-entry ourselves?

No. Your tour and tickets are booked together in advance by our team in operation. Your guide carries the tickets, so there’s nothing to download, print, or manage on your phone at the entrance.

Is the Louvre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, both the private Louvre tour and the Louvre Scavenger Hunt are wheelchair accessible. If you’re traveling with a stroller or have specific mobility needs, let us know when booking so your guide can plan around it.

Are your guides experienced working specifically with children, or are they just museum experts?

Our family museum tour guides are selected specifically for their expertise working with children.

Every guide undergoes evaluation for patience, child engagement skills, age-appropriate communication abilities, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching young learners.

Many of our guides have backgrounds in education, child development, or youth programming alongside their art history credentials.

They understand developmental stages, attention span realities, behavioral management strategies, and how to make complex concepts accessible without condescension.

They’re experts in transforming potential meltdowns into teaching moments, recognizing when children need movement versus rest, and reading subtle cues indicating engagement or frustration.

Parents consistently highlight our guides’ exceptional patience and natural rapport with children as distinguishing factors that transform potentially stressful museum visits into joyful family memories.

My kids have a short attention span : will a museum tour actually hold their interest?

If your children are 5–12, this is exactly what the Scavenger Hunt is built for : it runs 2 hours, and alternates between short bursts of storytelling and hands-on challenges so kids stay engaged rather than trailing behind.
It is a separate product from the adult highlights tour, not a shortened version of it.

What interactive activities do you use to keep kids engaged during museum tours?

Our interactive museum tours for kids incorporate multiple engagement strategies beyond traditional guide explanations.

Scavenger hunts challenge children to find specific artworks, hidden details within paintings, or recurring symbols throughout galleries -> transforming passive viewing into active exploration.

Storytelling techniques frame artworks as dramatic narratives with characters, conflicts, and plot twists that captivate young imaginations.

Drawing activities let children sketch artworks or architectural details, creating tangible connections and souvenirs.

Question-based learning positions children as “art detectives” solving mysteries rather than pass ive recipients of information.

Movement activities include gentle stretching, position-mirroring of statue poses, or guided observation from different physical perspectives.

Modern connections link historical artworks to contemporary movies, books, or video games children recognize, making centuries-old art feel relevant. Guides select activities based on your children’s ages, interests, and learning styles discussed during pre-tour consultation.

These varied hands-on strategies ensure children remain actively engaged rather than merely tolerating museum visits to please parents.

What happens If there's a Strike at the Louvre?

How do we find out there is a strike at the Louvre ?

Strikes at the Louvre are called by unions and are outside our control, but here is exactly how we handle them.
When a strike is called, we typically receive notice by email from the Louvre museum, usually at least 2 days in advance.

What’s usually affected. Strikes generally only affect early morning tours, roughly those starting between 9:00 and 10:00 am. During a strike, the Louvre often reopens around 10:30 am, though this isn’t guaranteed.

What if there is a strike announced at the time of my private Louvre tour?

If your tour is affected:

  • If the museum isn’t open at your scheduled tour time, we recommend waiting up to 45 minutes — delayed openings are common on strike days and the museum frequently opens shortly after.
  • If you’d prefer to switch to an alternative tour for that time slot instead of waiting, we’ll provide a partial refund.
  • If you choose to end the tour early and part ways with your guide, we’ll provide a full refund.

Note : When a strike is annouced we will always try to push the start the latest possible. (Depending on your schedule and that of the guide.
