In Paris, you have a wide choice of local guides, each with their own specialty and unique personality. And then, there is William: an unconventional, multicultural product of the pre-social media era, forged on the Anvil of Travel, Curiosity, Culture and a passion for Foreign Languages. The Office both hates and loves him for the unpredictable outcome of a tour (they do a lot of praying on the side). William loves to speak and comment on things that (most of the time) enrich the guest’s experience, while carefully reading the room before bringing his personal views to a discussion. He holds a PhD in Music and a Master in Arts History, so please avoid asking trees and flower questions. His teen years were marked by goth clothes and Dungeons and Dragons (2e), of which traces still linger in his choice of wardrobe. He loves Cinema (both as an art form and an industry) and is currently discovering Terry Pratchett’s Discworld book series, which he feels is an appropriate parallel to our own reality. He was recently diagnosed with a strong allergy to influencers, bible-bashers and people unaware of the unnecessary noise they make.
A graduate in Political Sciences (Universidad de Chile), William has always been interested in the interdisciplinary connections that exist between the arts. He completed two additional bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees in the Arts at Paris-Marne-la-VallĂ©e and Paris-Sorbonne University. He published his PhD dissertation in musicology at the University of Southampton in 2023. William regularly gives conferences and lectures at the University of Cergy and the Musique Culture et Arts association in Saint-Germain. He spends most of his time working at the Paris OpĂ©ra house because he believes he might be the Phantom’s latest reincarnation.
For William, there’s no better way to discover the magnificent gardens of Versailles than by golf cart. Beyond the splendour of the palace itself, the vast royal estate offers a world of elegant fountains, perfectly manicured lawns, tree-lined avenues, and spectacular views stretching towards the Grand Canal. Exploring by golf cart makes it easier to cover more of the gardens at a relaxed pace, stopping along the way to admire the landscape and discover the stories behind Louis XIV’s extraordinary vision. Combining royal history, beautiful scenery, and a little fun, this experience offers a memorable way to discover the grandeur of Versailles beyond the palace walls.
